I have acquired a Cave 12.5 F6 from the person that Tom Cave built it for "Richard Hodgson" in the spring of 1963. The mirror has Hodgson etched on it. I got the history for Richard Hodgson about the telescope.
My question is has anyone taken the dec arm apart to see how it works. I have been using this telescope for a little over a year and everything works great but the dec control. It appears to move right but not left. If I tighten the set screws just a little it gets hard to rotate. I just can not wrap my mind around how this was supposed to work at all. Is it just the drag caused by the screws that allow it to turn with the motor?
Thanks Bill
