Hi Finally getting my primary back after having send it away to re coat. Had to send it to the observatory in Sutherland, South Africa. However it did not cost me one cent..Amateur observers get the aluminium coating done for free. Hooray!! Tax dollars at work. First time I ever got something for nothing. Anyway I am still getting the rest of the scope shipshape. This little box intrigues me, Its connected to the electric system but I just cannot figure out whet it does. I can press buttons until I am blue in the face but it does nothing. It is connected to the system though. Attachments:

That is the controller box for the DEC drive motor. Does yours have a motor on the DEC axis?

Open the box and check for loose wires or shorts. You are dealing with AC current here and that's not pretty when it lights up.
There should be a black capacitor (big) inside. Pushing the left button turns the motor one direction. Pushing the other button turns it the other direction. Pushing both buttons melts the windings and shorts it all out. Don't push both buttons.
The motor should say asynchronous AC on it. It has two sets of winding. Each winding powers the motor in one direction.
I will look for the schematic for you.
